Total Time = 1h 06m 9s
Overall Rank = 6/350
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/18
Pre-race routine:

Coffee, 5 hour energy, half bagel with peanut butter, Gu 10 minutes before swim
Event warmup:

Swam a few hundred yards, ran on the beach for about 15 minutes, stretched.
Swim
  • 07m 56s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Could have a navigated a little better. Seemed to swim a little bit more than I needed to, typical
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Knocked my shoe off while trying to mount my bike. This was the first race where I tried to go sockless and have my shoes locked into my pedals before mounting. Decided before the race that I would work hard to get up the beach as quickly as possible and it paid off as I had one of the fastest T1 despite the mistake with the shoe.
What would you do differently?:

I think I will go back to putting my shoes on before mounting. Need to practice it more.
Bike
  • 34m 3s
  • 13 miles
  • 22.91 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I was passed up by the Olympic distance leader and once he went by I tried to stay with him. I think I could have gone out a little harder and faster since I stayed with the leader for most of the last half of the course.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Added socks after I got my bike racked. Ran past my rack!! Wasted a few seconds having to back track. Made it quickly through transition otherwise
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention
Run
  • 21m 12s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran about an extra 50 meters after running past the turn around.
What would you do differently?:

Could have started my kick a lot earlier, but I had no idea where the finish was. I came out of the trail and the finish line was right there 100 yards away.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and waited for Alyssa

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Maybe nutrition and lack of rest?

Event comments:

Great course, well organized, definitely be back to do the Olympic distance next year
