Swim
Comments: I was in the second wave to start three minutes behind first wave, had thoughts of hanging back since it was only my second event and first wave start, but I moved to the front of the line on the left side, start was good but after rounding first buoy it was hard to sight due to the sun glare... made myself feel good when I started passing somre first wave people. What would you do differently?: Get some tinted goggles for sure, finish swim a little longer before standing up and trying to run out of water.. Transition 1
Comments: Well this was a big trans. area, I did make the right decision where I setup because I ended up being by the bike out, the only downfall was it was about 300 yards plus from the swim exit so running across the asphalt barefooted was no fun.. got sunglasses, helmet and bike shoes on good, grab bike and was gone...think my time was up due to the big trans. area and the ground I had to cover to get there... What would you do differently?: Try and run faster to my bike and get out of there... Bike
Comments: Was able to get my breathing under control fairly quickly ,started passing people right at the start and didn't stop, was able to take most corners while pedaling and keep moving forward, was able to push hard in the flats and felt good on the inclines..Nutrition was water and some gatorade pro 02 drink.. What would you do differently?: A little less high cadence and a lower gear on the inclines, that way I could clear incline at a greater speed.. Transition 2
Comments: Was close to setup on bike in area, helmet off, put socks and shoes on, grabbed race number and visor, gone, had to run back across the parking lot to run exit, same ground I had to cover to get from the swim to my bike.. I think this was why my number was up because last week I was gone in 1:23.. What would you do differently?: Just do some practice runs at home to see how fast I can get putting on socks and shoes.. Run
Comments: Well I pushed hard on the run knowing I only had two mlies to cover, last week I averaged 10:06 per mile, this week 8:31 per mile, I will take it considering I had knee surgery in Feb.2010 and wasn't released to run to May of 2010.. Still need to work on this area because looking at the other people ahead of me they ranked top 10 in age group and I was 26th.. What would you do differently?: Nothing much I could have done differently.. just need to continue to do my run workouts and improve... Post race
Warm down: Just walked and cooled down and waited for some friends to cross the finish line.. had 32 ounces of water, apple and a banana.. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to work on sighting better and getting swimming stroke faster, also need to work on improving my run.... Event comments: The trans. area to me needs to be marked better because it was a first come first serve basis, I had no idea where to set up being it was my first time here... Overall a good event especially for beginners but I'm glad I was in an early wave start and got on the bike before the roads got congested with all the other bikers.. I'm very satisfied with my performance considering it was my first sprint and second tri event.. Last updated: 2010-05-17 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:00am, had three boiled eggs and 1/2cup of oatmeal dry then prepared.. put on trisuit with shorts and t-shirt.. loaded up truck with all my gear packed from the night before..Got to trans. setup and wasn't sure where to set up because the bike in/out was not marked neither was the run out...finally picked a spot hoping it was alright, boy this was a big trans. area Layed gear out and got ready...talked to some friends, consumed a gatorade pro 01 at 7:00 am...headed towards pre race meeting at 7:45am
Nohthing much here, slight streching, made sure bike was in proper gears, and walked around the beach to prerace meeting at the start of the swim line.. Took a Hammer Gel 15 min prior to swim start..
