Pre-race routine:

Met a great group of people to car pool. Stopped for coffee and arrived plenty early for one person to do the 800.
Event warmup:

No real warm up because I didn't want to get in the water since it was so cold and people were already doing the 800.

Comments:

It was a good swim once I got in rythm. I choked once and had a some contact but that is the fun of this sort of race.
What would you do differently?:

My wetsuit in not tri-specific. I ended up having some drag and very cold. Once out of the water I simply froze. Next time, I will at least get my face under water and swim a bit before the start. I also need better clothing at finish to get warm sooner.

Warm down:

Biked around the lake once. It really was more of a warm-up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I trained at this pace so wasn't too suprised. Need to train with a rythm for sighting. Also, need to work on drafting more.

Event comments:

Food was great and people are very friendly. Took a bit too long to get results and wet-suit giveaway given the cold.

Had a really rough start which pulled my time down. I thought I would find people at the back at my pace but didn't expect people were both slow and also couldn't swim straight... or maybe that is a good description of me.
Suit: Farmer John
Course: Shallow water start with first leg being pretty muddy and shallow. Counter clockwise with about 8 - 10 boeys. The long leg of the swim had more chop and is a bit harder to sight because of the being out toward the middle of the lake.
