Swim
Comments: Getting through the first few sets of waves went a lot smoother than I anticipated. Kept my HR down and got into a decent rhythm pretty quickly. Goggles fogged up...I blame that and not my poor sighting ability on getting slightly off course....twice. What would you do differently?: Not do a race with an ocean swim. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Plan was to keep it dialed down on the first loop and pick up it on the second loop. Good execution. Hit a strong cross wind in a couple spots & could feel it push me around a little. Also a decent headwind on a portion of the course. What would you do differently?: I was hoping for & expecting slightly better results here, and in hindsight could have pushed harder. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Run was hot & the sun was relentless. Started off easy, got my legs back. Kept the first loop easy and picked it up for the second. I felt strong and my legs felt great. By the second loop it felt like I was roasting. Tried to distract myself, and keep myself on track by picking off people ahead of me. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: taylor ham, egg & cheese on a bagel, coke and iced coffee...all devoured within a matter on minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of confidence. Event comments: Turns out I hate ocean swims. If it wasn't that I'd definitely do this race again. Last updated: 2010-05-20 12:00 AM

Up at 4:15. No where to get coffee, so resorted to Red Bull instead. Had a bagel w/ pb, a banana and gatorade. Racking was first come first serve, so I was at transition when it opened at 5am & got a prime spot. Surprising have few people were there at 5am.
Easy 10 min run & stretching. Contemplated a warmup swim but I was already really anxious about getting back in the ocean after Saturday's practice swim, so decided to skip it. Instead stood at the edge of the water wanting to cry and/or vomit.
