Swim
Comments: I was the swim leg of a relay team. No backup of swimmers this time (phew). I got passed within the first lap, and then passed someone on the next lap. All alone after that. My arms were tired after like 100 m! I guess I was thinking it was such a short swim, I should sprint the entire time. But maybe I went out too fast, b/c my breathing and form suffered. What would you do differently?: pace myself a little bit and try to keep breathing alternate sides. Transition 1

Event comments: This is a good beginner's race, or for people who are afraid of the swim, since that segment is so short. It's a fine little race, however, I was annoyed that they had a mandatory meeting for first-timers and people who hadn't been on the course. It was a waste of my time as a new-to-the-course person. (Good for first-timers though!) The other annoying thing was that packet pickup was in a different location on the other side of richmond, purely so they could get people into their new tri store. Oh, and finally, if you are a slower swim seed, you can wait around for hours before you even get to start. Last updated: 2010-05-21 12:00 AM
