Swim
Comments: I had a great swim took it wasy to begin with and just set my own pace. I soon found that I was passing people. I swam as close to the bouy as the kayaks would allow! great swim!! What would you do differently?: Nothing it was my best swim yet Transition 1
Comments: It took forever to get the wet suit off!! we were in the far corner from the bike out so we had to run the farthest with the bike. I wasn't so concerned about my t times, I just didn't want to forget anything. Right on target time What would you do differently?: Be better at getting the wet suit off. It was my first experience wit a full suit and it is much harder to get off than a shortie!! Bike
Comments: I felt great on the bike until mile 40. I have been battling a stomach bug picked up from my school and I thought I was over it... I guess not. I also didn't have a solid nutrition plan for the race and I think the effected me a lot. I still felt strong on the bike but took a little pace off to save something for the run. Overall great bike. Right on my target time What would you do differently?: Get a nutrition plan for the race. i was confused as to what to eat and when carb.. how much, no protein, all protein?? I had no problems i training no matter what I ate... Something to work on or next year. Transition 2
Comments: Took too long, it was wet and I took my time getting all my gels and everything I needed for the run.. What would you do differently?: be faster!! Run
Comments: I felt great until mile 4.5 then my stomach caught up with me.. I got really bad cramps and had to walk run.. Had a GREAT cheering section and that kept me going. Finished the last 1.5 strong and screamed/yelled all the way down the finishing chute.. I was ecstatic to finish.. Went straight through and puked in a storm drain on the other side of the fence.. Physically and emotionally exhausted. But i was HAPPY!!! What would you do differently?: Try not to have a stomach bug. figure out a better nutrition plan. Post race
Warm down: had some pizza a beer and met my wife and the great friends that had come from Atlanta to support me. I am so thankful that they came. i appreciate it more than they will ever know. it was an important day for me.. 4 years and -60 lbs in the making. What limited your ability to perform faster: stomach.. body felt fine. Event comments: Thia has been a great experience. i followed the BT 20 week HIM training plan and it was the best decision I have ever made. i was ready lost the 20lbs I needed to and found a lot of fitness. I enjoyed the training as much or more than the race. I would highly recommend.. NOW A NUTRITION PLAN!! Great race for me, 2 years ago I never thought it would happen. This will not be my last HIM.
