Pre-race routine:

Bagel n Coffee at 10:30

Event warmup:

Try to find parking in Hartford. Met PollyC & her fan club. Stretched a bit.

Comments:

Using my time of 27:03 for my log, there were no timing mats at the start. Took at least 3 minutes to get past enough people in order to get up to speed. Frustrating. I run faster than this!
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water beforehand. Prepare a little more by running speedwork. Take a day off from training.

I may not look at (or use) my HRM during a race going forward. There were times I slowed down based on my HR when I probably didn't need to.
Post race
Warm down:

Grab my gold potato (wtf?), chat, grab food, walk to car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Dehydration
Crowded (or I need to start more in the front next time)
Cramps

Event comments:

This race was well organized, lots of police presence and a fair number of volunteers considering the rainy weather. Water stations should have been more clearly marked, and I would have liked to see either a marked mile 2 point or one that was as obvious as the first mile marker. Nice T-shirts. Good post race food spread. Not much crowd turnout for the number of racers, but this could have been weather related.
