Pre-race routine:

I woke up early (5:00) and had a Clif Bar and a banana. Then, I drove to my dad's house to pick him up for the race. We arrived about 45 minutes before the pre-race meeting. It was wet and rainy, but the rain stopped before we started.

I am a little frustrated. My swim times on this course haven't really improved through the season, even though my swimming in the pool has really increased. Maybe I am just destined to be a really slow swimmer.
What would you do differently?:

Try and find a way to practice in open water.

My transitions are getting a little better. Today I was not nearly so dizzy coming out of the water and just in general felt better.

Learn to start with my shoes already clipped in.

I was definitely faster today. Slowly, but surely I am creeping up there. Seeing the crashes made me nervous and maybe a little too cautious, but overall a good ride.

Practice more on hills- I am losing way too much speed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really need to work on my swim.

Event comments:

This was a great race for me! I was almost 10 minutes faster than my last race. Not a bad way to end the season.

Course: This is horseshoe course out into the lake. The lane is fairly narrow and it gets really crowded. It's also really dirty and hard to see. I got off course a few times and had to waste precious strokes correcting.

Course: This is a hilly course with lots of turns. It was pretty slick today because of the morning rain. There were a couple of pretty bad crashes. I have gotten better at navigating this course and was definitely faster.
