Swim
  • 26m 44s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got bumped around a bit at the start. It took until the turn around to get into a rhythm. Really felt good about overall time as it was 5 minutes faster than my last olympic distance tri.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder on the second half
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

I must have fallen asleep in transition. Forgot my sunglasses on my way out and went back to get them. Big waste of time.
What would you do differently?:

move faster
Bike
  • 1h 21m 18s
  • 25.48 miles
  • 18.80 mile/hr
Comments:

This is where my day got difficult. First, my bike computer never worked. Then, I crashed at the first roundabout. Went down pretty hard, and right in front of relatives. While I got right up, it took me awhile to get my wheels spinning again and my handlebars needed some adjustment. Probably lost about 4 minutes. Took it pretty conservative the rest of the bike. Just glad that my day wasn't over.
What would you do differently?:

Stay upright!
Transition 2
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Felt ok during transition. Took a big drink of gatorade before heading out.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on going faster.
Run
  • 48m 38s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Knew that I still had a chance of beating my goal of 2:45. Felt ok up the first hill and through the park. I started to feel my legs tightening as I got into the hills in the neighborhood. Right about mile 4 had cramps in both hamstrings - sent me crumbling to the ground. Got nice words of encouragement from other racers. After a minute or so, decided that quickest way home was to get up and go. Amazingly, after about quarter of mile, my legs felt good again and was able to really push for last 2 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe drink more on the bike. Not too sure.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water and a blanket and hung out with my kids while I waited for my wife to finish the race.

Event comments:

Will definitely do it again
