Pre-race routine:

Did some practicing but not nearly enough. This was my first TRI and my bike and run were okay but my swim.......oh my......
Swim
  • 24m
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

My legs were so exhausted from doing the breast stroke I fell down getting out of the water. UGH!!!
What would you do differently?:

I will be doing so open water swim practices for sure. I think I could have pushed through better and done more free style and much less breast stroke. I think that if I could have pushed myself back into a free style I would have settled back into a nice pace (darn that mental capacity).
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 31m
  • 10 miles
  • 19.35 mile/hr
Comments:

I liked my bike (much much more then the swim). I passed more then got passed and felt okay. The course is nice.
What would you do differently?:

More training on the bike and work on speed up the hills. I find that I like the speed going done...but who doesn't
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 31m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I did not train as much running as I wish I had. Live and Learn.
What would you do differently?:

Train better (or at least more)
Post race
Warm down:

Use my 9 year old as a walker assistant and try to not fall down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I trained but not nearly enough or smart enough. Looking foward to doing another race in September.

Event comments:

Having been to other races to support my wife I can compare a little. I think the volunteers were great and plentiful. Sign-in went smoothly. I wish the "goodie" bag was a little more goodie. But, they did give out Tech-Tees which is nicer than the typical cotton T. Also, more port-a-johns at the transition area would have been better. I would say a well put on and organized race. I will be doing it again next year.

Performance: Bad
Suit: Sleeveless Zoot
Course: Great course, bad swim. I finally know what it means to blow up on the swim. I have been swimming for about 2 months and thought this was going to be my strongest event...WRONG. I just couldn't get a grove with the breathing. I finished but not were I expected too. Getting out was awkward but people were there to help.
