Swim
Comments: I actually did the duathlon, not the tri. I had no desire to be swimming in the ocean in May. The du started with a 2 mile run down to 59th St and then back. I think they should have had a cone or something to run around, but instead the volunteer just told you when to turn around. What would you do differently?: I am trying to figure out if I should have run harder. There was only one other woman who was running my pace and I basically just kept up with her. Transition 1
Comments: I had a pretty good transition. Because I did the du and not the tri, basically all I had to do was switch my shoes. It's much faster than trying to get out of a wetsuit! :) What would you do differently?: I need to learn how to start with my shoes on my bike. That would have allowed me to run a bit faster with my bike. Overall though, it wasn't too far to run and I did ok. Bike
Comments: Parts of the road weren't bad, other parts weren't great although I didn't notice any significant potholes or anything. It was really nice to bike on a closed course. What would you do differently?: Spend some time biking in windy conditions. Transition 2
Comments: This was the first time I actually dismounted my bike while still moving. It wasn't so bad, although I tend to swing my right leg over the front instead of the back. But, I got off the bike without incident...isn't that what counts? Run
Comments: Pretty decent run. I was pretty tired toward the end and breathing really hard, but able to stick it out. Post race
Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. I loved how convenient it was to get to the start for me. I also was reminded how it is fun to sometimes do smaller races. Last updated: 2010-06-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30 AM and ate a peanut butter sandwich while my dad brewed me some coffee. After my cup of caffeine, I jumped in the shower. We left for the race around 5:40 AM...I biked down (it's awesome to have a race to convenient!) and my family drove. They met me at transition with my bike pump.
Jogged a little. The bathroom situation rocked!! In the hour pre-race I never had to wait once and I made a few trips. :)
