Run
Comments: first mile a little too fast around 6.34, would have wanted to keep pace closer to 7.00 overall, but technique felt very good and pace seemed okay What would you do differently?: try to even pace out more Transition 1
Comments: Due to pouring rain put shoes on in transition not clipped to bike What would you do differently?: nothing considering the weather - this slowed things down with the shoes and towels on the bike Bike
Comments: Nailed my goal of breaking the 20mph barrier. Turns were good this time. New rudy helmet visor saved by bacon with all the rain, helmet comfortable. A lot better on taking in fluid, took it throughout. Took gel shot after 2nd turn on way back to T2 - handling of gel was good and gave me what I needed to get through the last leg. Coming into park there was a very tight turn over a muddy/wet pad, had to jump off the bike to keep from falling, then remount on other side for last few hundred yards, this screwed up my finish but was okay because this was another weather-related situation. Noticed on last leg back calves were threatening to cramp a few times, coasted a couple seconds here and there to keep it at bay. But this felt like a sign that I was at the limits of my ability. What would you do differently?: Need a new saddle! had to shift hip position several times to stop feeling like I had to stop and pee. Also on last leg back was back on saddle which I think had a negative impact on aero position a bit. Transition 2
Comments: Running into T2 good, getting muddy shoes back on a bit awkward but okay. Rt calf threatened to cramp but didn't, less of a factor than prior race. What would you do differently?: Also really need to work on dismount - guy in front of me got his right leg onto left side of bike, then under left leg to get in front so he could run right off bike. Want to try and do that next time. Run
Comments: Technique and pace felt solid - was really worried about this longer 2nd run but felt good. Last little rise up near end took a hit, but still had enough in tank to put on a burst at the finish. Took very little from aid stations but got really hydrated on bike so didn't really feel bad about that. What would you do differently?: Pace is still to far off 1st run pace. The run pace and 2 run split times is something to work on. Need to try and get a better organic sense of my pace and how far I can push it to get a little more speed. Post race
Warm down: Walk around, took various shot blocks and clif bar samples, electrolytes from finish line station. Stretched at home. What limited your ability to perform faster: HR data did throw me off - helped track pace on R1 but forgot to hit lap button on different stages, but losing the HR data was a pain. Weather was a bit of a factor but considering how I did I feel pretty good that it had less of an impact than I had thought it might. Event comments: Overall rank - 12 of 34. Masters rank - 6 of 10. Age rank - 5 of 5 Made 10 spot in top 10 overall males. The weather really made for a miserable post race area with all the mud, and the new running shoes don't look new anymore! Am very happy with bike leg even though that felt the hardest, and glad I felt good (although slower than I'd have liked) on both runs. I don't think I could have pushed more or much more to get the times I got. Race Center scoring points - 78.62 Post race - No knee issues thankfully. day after no aching qaud soreness like last time. Overall soreness just some overall light leg soreness. Most soreness from inside of quads/tendons to groin area. Think the saddle issue may be related. Last updated: 2010-06-01 12:00 AM

Got up @ 530, ate pb bagel and banannal Got there in plenty of time to deal with shuttles and setup. To say there was "precipitation" is putting it lightly - it poured the entire day!
Body looseners, some OD jogging about .5 mile, took 3 clif shot blocks about 10m before gun
