Swim
Comments: Took a little while to get comfortable (about 1/4 of first loop). Goggles either leaked a little or had water in them that I couldn't get out, so I had to stop a few times to empty and re-stick them. Did much better about front crawling the rest. Not quite the 2:00/ 100 m that I was originally hoping for, but this was really good for me in open water. Still BOP though. What would you do differently?: If goggles leak, flip to back. Transition 1
Comments: Put on a fleece in T1 -- it was chilly out. Dried off a bit more than usual, too. What would you do differently?: Learn to get wetsuit off better! Bike
Comments: Still feel pretty sluggish first getting onto the bike. Long, gradual hill at the beginning shot my hr way up. Only passed 3 people, and two of them weren't making any forward progress (one had a flat, one was peeing). A little breezy, and a bit chilly. Toes numb by the end. Glad I took the time to dry off a little and put on the fleece. What would you do differently?: Remember to spin and take it easy at the beginning! Transition 2
Comments: No biggie. What would you do differently?: Tie my right shoe better? Run
Comments: Again, a much more competitive field and longer distance means I was passed much more than I was used to, and only passed one person. Still fairly cool, so overheating wasn't bad. Wasn't 100% sure how to pace the 10k, especially after the other two legs. Some stomach cramping / gas almost from the get-go. Uncomfortable, and made it tougher to pick up the pace. Also developed a blister on the bottom of my left foot from rubbing with the orthotic. What would you do differently?: Run faster... Post race
Warm down: Walked a little, photo shoot with the folks, ate post-race luau (pork sandwiches, rice, pineapple), stretched during awards. Won a pair of socks that is likely too small :-). What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience? Stomach cramp in run. Blister ofrom orthotic during run. Event comments: Challenging course with rolling hills, but so very well-run, and nice and small, that it's likely I'll do it again. Last updated: 2010-06-02 12:00 AM

A little different because of visiting parents. Up at 4:30, dress, oatmeal (not quite cooked to perfection -- didn't want to wake Dad), small poo, out the door by 5:35. Matt drove (thanks!), loaded up and on the road by 5:45 or so. Parents would come later.
Jogged for ... a little while, biked for ~10 min.?, then a quick swim right before the race started.
