Swim
Comments: Felt good about the swim. My total time includes 1' run from swim finish into transition so it was right at 2:00/100 pace which is fine with me. Never pushed it and got right into a steady rhythm. Best sighting ever for me which is surprising as this was my 1st open water swim of the year. What would you do differently?: Maybe push it a tad more but felt good about the swim. Transition 1
Comments: My HR was up a decent bit when I got into T1. Fumbled some getting bike out of rack. My bike shoes are not tri specific and the straps always come out of the loops when I'm putting my feet into them so I had to wrestle the straps and tongue of the shoe back into place. Not my best time for sure. Bike
Comments: Nice and steady bike ride. Comfortably hard pace. Transition 2
Comments: Got my left shoes stuck in the pedals when approaching T2. Accidentally knocked over someone else's bike in rack next to mine when running in - took the extra time to rerack. What would you do differently?: Learn to mounting the bike with my shoes clipped in. Run
Comments: WORST RUN EVER. Hands down. Bar none. I got about 200 yards out of T2 and my stomach immediately began gurgling & became nauseous. Another few hundred yards & I was dry heaving. Trying to walk it out didn't work. Got back to running and starting tossing my cookies. Tried running again, threw up again. Rest of the entire "run" my stomach was always on the cusp of turning inside out. I've never had this happen before. Usually my legs will cramp if I have run problems but never GI issues. This was one of the most embarassing sporting circumstances I've had to endure - walking a sprint while folks motored on by me and I couldn't do a thing about it. What would you do differently?: Have a better stomach I reckon. Post race
Warm down: Eat food at finish in hopes of throwing up again. Sadly it didn't work. What limited your ability to perform faster: Stomach issues. No clue where they came from. C'est la vie. Event comments: Well, I guess its better to crash & burn on a sprint and get it over with then on a longer race and suffer for hours. But I don't think I cooked myself on the bike and I know I didn't try anything new for the race so I'm not sure exactly what happened to me. There's always another race, I reckon. At least I finished in the shade tent and not the med tent. Last updated: 2010-06-02 12:00 AM

Same as always: PBJ & coffee about 2 hours prior to start with water & Hammer gel about 45 minutes before. And, of course, the obligatory bonsoir naturale.
Got into transition and chatted up friends. Walked down to swim finish area and checked water temp - hot!! Rode about mile or so with Brad & Jason about 30 minutes prior. Didn't run. About 5 minutes before start hopped into water and did some quick swim-ups.
