Total Time = 3h 04m 30s
Overall Rank = 679/1030
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 23/50
Pre-race routine:

Got up and had my usual peanut butter and bagel. Of course got to the race start waaaaaaay earlier than necessary, but at least I was ready.
Event warmup:

No swim warmups, so just stood and watched the waves ahead of me.
Swim
  • 34m 52s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Seriously need to learn how to site better - I am adding way too much more distance than necessary!!!
What would you do differently?:

Site better, not have to rely on switching to breastroke to see where the hell I am.
Transition 1
  • 05m 5s
Comments:

My age bracket gets screwed at this race - we are at the back of transition so have to go the furthest in and out of transition the bike. Still need to be faster here.
What would you do differently?:

Practice T1 before race day.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 10s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a pretty good bike, although I was a little tentative to start the first few miles since it had poured down rain when I was swimming. The streets were slick, but they quickly dried.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself a little harder - I tend to hold back a little too much.
Transition 2
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

Could be better, but it is a better time than last year, so I'm happy with it.
What would you do differently?:

Practice T2 before race day.
Run
  • 1h 00m 48s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

So glad it wasn't as hot as last year. I shaved over 9 minutes off my time, mostly due to that. Only walked through the water stations.
What would you do differently?:

Not let the kids with the super soakers drench my shoes - I got a nice size blister on the bottom of my baby toe because my shoes and socks were soaked. Sure felt good though! Need to get in some speed work - still too slow.
Post race
Warm down:

Sat down in the Livestrong booth and had some nutrition, talked to other Livestrongers. Went and got tacos, back to the hotel for a shower and then started out on the loooooooooong Labor day drive back to Dallas.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wet streets, heat, lack of speed training.

Event comments:

This was my 2nd year doing this race - I absolutely love it! Very well organized and lots of fun (contrary to my complaining above lol). Next year I hope to be under 3 hours.
