Swim
Comments: Water was warm, & odd, the coffee color was very different-but I was OK with it. Gun went off, I tried to put my self in the back of the pack, but ended up behind my teammate Werner on the way out to the 1st buoy. Thought I was still drafting him as I turned the 1st buoy, but then drifted out towards the other shore & he was gone. Still having issues with the OWS sighting. Straightened out & headed for home. Great swim for me, stunned when I saw Michael Fry saying good job and teammates behind me! What would you do differently?: Nothing best swim I ever had! Transition 1
Comments: T1: Seemed really slow, time was about 45 seconds slower than Issaquah tri, I put on an extra long sleeve shirt for warmth (Glad I did). Fumbled with clothing, still not where I want for T1. Saw Werner come in behind me, still wondering how that happened? What would you do differently?: pay attention to what I'm going to put on when. Bike
Comments: Bike: Took it easy on the 1st loop, as I didn’t know the course & had been warned about gravel. Hit the pot hole I had been warned about on the 1st loop. 2nd loop cranked it until the Military rd overpass coming back, took a gel then so I would have something for the run. My coach Jill passed me as I was passing someone else. She is fast & looked good on the new bike! What would you do differently?: Nothing, felt really good. Hope for dry weather? Transition 2
Comments: T2: Uneventful, love my zoots! What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe yell at my coach about the helmet she forgot was still on her head? Run
Comments: Started slow, felt my hamstrings about ½ mile in, but then they relaxed. Took it easy to a little after mile 1, then tried to go as fast as possible. Ran out of gas when I turned into the park (about 3 miles), where Steve D passed me! What would you do differently?: Know the run course, didn't expect the last 1/4 mile in the park, & had nothing left. Fastest mile time yet! Post race
Warm down: Really wasn't a warm down, as it had started to get cold & rainy on the run. What limited your ability to perform faster: PR for the distance, & 3rd in my age group, hence it is the fastest I've ever gone. However, if I continue to loose the weight, suspect I can go faster. Event comments: Decent small race. Budu has a good race here. Only issue I had was that there wasn't very many porta potty's and so many of us where in the State park bathroom all at once. Also parking wasn't well marked. However, the race was still very good, and I anticipate doing it again next year! Last updated: 2010-06-06 12:00 AM

Pre-Race:
Woke up late 6:16, race was at 8, still had to get my packet, had printed out a Google map the night before, so planned to follow that. For breakfast I was starving because my diner was an Alaska airlines Chibatta sandwich on my way home from Atlanta the night before. I went to Starbucks & had an apple fritter & donut on the drive down to the race.
Got lost after getting off of route 167, but ended up on Military road, so saw a little of the course. I was a little worried, as all the races before I’ve at least driven the bike course before doing it. Not a good start to the day. Saw everyone on the team at the tent & it settled me down, it was good to see everyone!
Small swim to warm up, but nothing really
