Swim
  • 15m 27s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Suprisingly, we actually had the option to wear a wetsuit. After changing my mind about a hundred times I decided not to. The water was pretty warm. I was very disappointed in my swim. Should have been much faster. I have not done any open water swiming yet this year & it showed! I also need to practing siting. I had a hard time getting into a grove & just wore myself out with the siting.
What would you do differently?:

Practice OWS at least once.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

No issues during T1. Didn't wear a wetsuit so that definately helped!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 53m 1s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 14.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a really hard time on the bike. It was all headwinds & crosswinds during the entire ride. At the last hill heading back to the lake (about 1/4 mile or less from T2) the headwinds killed me. I was on my easiest gear & still taking that hill at about 5mph. But so were the other people around me. I was just happy to get off the bike!
What would you do differently?:

Definately need to do more hill work.
Transition 2
  • 02m 12s
Run
  • 38m 29s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs were toast from my battle on the bike. It took me a while to get going. It was an out & back run. Didn't do to well on the out. But did much better on the back. On the bright side though, no leg cramps.
What would you do differently?:

More running off the bike during training.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing big, just stretched a bit & ate some cookies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was sick (stomach flu) the entire week before the race.

Event comments:

Overall I had fun & was glad I went ahead and decided to race. I was very sick the whole week prior to the race & wasn't sure if I wanted to go through with it on Saturday. It was frustrating not doing as well as I could/should have but I had fun & got to meet some new people.
