Overcast
Total Time = 1h 20m 7s
Overall Rank = 255/541
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 10/21
Pre-race routine:

2 cups of joe, hammer gel instead of food and I think that worked fine.
Event warmup:

swam out a few strokes and stretched a tiny bit beforehand
Swim
  • 06m 54s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

Clear water, we started right in front of a sandbar waist deep. I saw the elites run, then do dolphin almost to the first buoy so I decided to do the same: super fast results! The water was really choppy but because it was clear it didn't seem daunting. I enjoyed this swim, but I got out of the water and noticed there was a woman in my age group ahead of me...grrr.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe next time I would swim out a little more so that waves didn't knock me inside the buoy line, but then again, I was all by myself and nobody kicked me, so I liked that.
Transition 1
  • 04m 4s
Comments:

This included a long run along a sandy beach and up a hill. I did fine with everything here.
Bike
  • 40m 45s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.67 mile/hr
Comments:

I do feel I didn't work it as hard as the Jekyll tri, but maybe that's why my run was so much stronger this time.
What would you do differently?:

try to push it a little more or not? will have to experiment with that.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

perfect, fast
Run
  • 27m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

My BEST ever tri run! I couldn't believe the time because I did the first mile in 10 mins. Yeah.
Post race
Warm down:

stretch a little, drank a lot, ate a LOT

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nada, this was much faster than I've ever gone.

Event comments:

LOVED this race!!! And not just because I had a great race. I love ROTARY; rotarians are so generous, they know how to get out and volunteer, plus they are so kind hearted. This is a great race for a great cause! I knew going in the competition would be tough so I wasn't worried about placing mid pack: these FL women are fast. The one who won my AG could have placed 4th overall in men's division. I mean FAST
