Swim
Comments: Felt very very good coming out of the water. I have no idea how I placed or what position I was in. No biggie, as a first timer, I was there to complete the course and after a great swim, I was on my way. I could have gone somewhat faster, but with 8 swimmers per lane, it got crowded quickly. Some laps were slower waiting for a chance to pass. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the swim. What would you do differently?: Might choose a faster lane, but I have no complaints with my swim. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't have to remove a wetsuit so that saved me some time. I did put socks on wet feet and that was probably the big time driver. I am estimating my T1 time. What would you do differently?: Some folks had 5 gallon buckets. What a great idea to carry gear and have a stool to sit on for putting on socks. I may have to "practice" that technique. Bike
Comments: I was passed a lot on the bike, which makes me think I was pretty fast out of the pool. But I wasn't going to be goaded into changing my plan. My cadence was good and I don't feel like I was working too hard. I was going faster than I anticipated, but the pedal strokes felt very consistent and I don't think I was working too hard. On the second half the wind was kind of a killer, but I tried to keep my power consistent. What would you do differently?: Not sure, things were obviously out of my control or the run wouldn't have been as hard as it was. I definately need to work on my cycling power Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good T2. I put my helmet on my knee straps so I ended up leaving them behind. Not a good for my run. What would you do differently?: I need to put bike stuff somewhere else so it doesn't pile on my running stuff. Transition set up could have prevented the knee strap oversight. Run
Comments: Terrible run, I figure I walked at least a third. There was knee pain from not having the strap. But also, my legs were shot from the ride. Not sure how that happened as I felt the ride was very much in my control and I kept things very manageable. What would you do differently?: Need to add more bricks to my training plan. Post race
Warm down: lots of walking around, drinking gatorade, eating bananas What limited your ability to perform faster: Run. Leg strength wasn't there off the bike. Event comments: Great race. My first and I would recommend to anyone. Great race for sprint people, and a great practice race for those who train for longer distances. Transition area was a little "informal" Last updated: 2010-06-08 12:00 AM

Set up Transition tried to be smart about how I set things up. Lesson learned for me is to put my knee straps in my running short pockets. I did eat my PB&J for breakfast and it was what I thought it would be, perfect pre race meal.
Most did some walking around, light stretching and tried to loosen up my shoulders for the swim.
