Swim
Comments: Not wetsuit legal. 1st time swimming in a Tri top. This wasn't bad at all. Only a little drag. What would you do differently?: Train harder on the swim. Transition 1
Comments: No wetsuit to take off, so that saved some time. I was very dizzy putting on my bike shoes. I need to work on getting them on on the bike. I also couldn't get my helmet buckled. I wanted to keep this under 1:30, so I was a little slow. What would you do differently?: Learn to put shoes on while riding. Bike
Comments: My goal for this was 31 minutes and 23 mph. I couldn't believe the pace I was holding. I got passed by 1 other racer - Dave Cascio. So I hung with him for a while and figured that if I could hang with him, I was doing pretty good. Then I passed him on the bike. I couldn't believe that either. Then he passed me back and that was it. Under 29 minutes is awesome. I treated this like an FTP test. What would you do differently?: This ride was awesome! Indoor cycling training and FTP testing paying off. Transition 2
Comments: I was happy with this. I wanted to keep this under 1:30, but it still can get faster. What would you do differently?: practice Run
Comments: Track work still paying off. I knew that I could keep this in the low 7 minute range. Goal was 23 mins. Tried to get to I pace (7:03) But for a hilly 5 k course, I'm real happy with this. I was running thru the neighborhood and a volunteer said that I was #21. I started at #120, so at that point I had passed almost 100 people and reality of a podium spot was setting in. I almost thought about slowing down a bit, but I knew that I could push it home another 1.2 miles. Then I saw a bunch of FeXY people toward the finish and Reid told me to keep pushing and "get your podium". Then wow, 1:01:20. My stretch goal was 1:03. AGE GROUP WINNER! What would you do differently?: keep going to track Post race
Warm down: Water and pizza. I was still in shock about the time that I just did. Stood on the podium for the 1st time ever and got my 1st Place Age Group Award What limited your ability to perform faster: More swimming Event comments: 1st PLACE AGE GROUP. BUT LEGIT 1ST PLACE. THERE WERE NO OTHER MALE 35-39s ON THE OVERALL PODIUM. 5TH PLACE BIKE SPLIT AND #14 RUN - INCREDIBLE! Last updated: 2010-06-09 12:00 AM

Wake up @ 4:05. Espresso, banana, 1/2 pb&j. 5 minutes on the trainer to get the legs warmed up.
Left at 5:15, got to the site and parked on the street in back of the pool. Had plenty of time to get my chip. Only about 10 people there so far. Set up transition, took a 3 minute run, swam 2 laps in the pool, and I was ready. Drank and Ironman Perform / gatorade type drink. 15 mins before entering the pool I had an Endurolyte pill and a Hammer Gel.
