Swim
Comments: Swam hard. Passed a few people. Though I was in front of pack, it still felt like it took forever. Got hit in the face by a girl while rounding the last buoy, but it wasn't that bad. What would you do differently?: Warm up in the water. There was 1/2 hour before the race where people could warm up in the water, but I was frantically setting up the transition area and missed it. Probably also should have swam one time in the week leading up to tri. Transition 1
Comments: Took off wetsuit while running out of water. Had lots of trouble getting it past my feet. Had to sit down in water briefly due to dizziness and difficulty in getting wetsuit off. I was also gasping/wheezing for air, so I guess I swam hard. Running in T1 with the bike shoes was hard. What would you do differently?: I don't know. Next time maybe I'll try running to T1 in my wetsuit undone to the waist and take it off rest of way in T1. Bike
Comments: My heart rate was in Zone 5 the whole time. My legs were burning, I was gasping for air on the hills, but I kept on going. I was passed a lot, but I also passed a lot of people. I had the Camelbak on for water, which worked out well. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike more to get faster? I need to get the left cleat adjusted because my left foot started going numb. Transition 2
Comments: Went well enough. I didn't have too many expectations. What would you do differently?: I would have had my running shoe laces undone before the race. Even better, use the Yanks I have. I never got around to putting them on. Also forgot to put GPS on my wrist. Not sure it would've helped me. Run
Comments: Alternated running and walking. I ran longer than I thought I would. What would you do differently?: Nothing, except focus on run training more. Post race
Warm down: walking around, trying to catch my breath. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Event comments: I think they should get racks to fit thicker tired bikes and let people know the parking area is far from registration. But those are my only complaints. It was a good race with lots of volunteers, and everybody was cheering everyone else on. I would've stayed for the food, but my husband wanted to go out for brunch instead. The race shirts ROCK. Tech material, and white. Last updated: 2010-06-09 12:00 AM

Breakfast shake like usual, drank water on way to race. I thought that I'd be able to get back to the car after registering and before the race, but it was a long way from parking to registration. I had left the wetsuit in the car, but I called my husband (who had stayed behind to take pics of water) and he got my wetsuit. I was still panicked and irritable. My bike, though not a mtn bike, wouldn't fit in the racks. I was a big drama queen about it. A race volunteer came and set up my bike for me, but it fell a few minutes afterward. I gave up and parked in the mtn bike island, a little area with trees. Set up transition area, went to porta potty, then it was time to go!
Did some dynamic warmup, like butt kicks and forward kicks, lunges, shoulder warmup. Jumped around to keep myself warm. Waiting for my wave to leave was very cold!
