Swim
Comments: I made sure I made my way to the front of the group and postioned myself to go wide to start. I am not a fan of contact and knew people were going to go out hard and fade. I actually had more contact in this swim than I did in my 1/2 ironman a few weeks ago...weird. Nothing major but it was starting to piss me off!! First time with the wetsuit and I realized I need to use it more this summer. Kind of felt like it was coking me at times making it hard to breathe. My time is a bit misleading as for I actually exited the water at 10:46 which would be 1:47 100s. For some reason it took me forever to get up to the timing mat at hte entrance to the bikes.....sigh. Top 27% on the swim overall and a PR though so I like that. What would you do differently?: Run faster coming out of the water instead of fiddling with my suit. Transition 1
Comments: Man I suck at transitions....117 going in, 189 coming out. Lost ALOT of places in transitions. I don't know how I am going to improve but I am going to have to find a way. What would you do differently?: ummmmm...everything????? Bike
Comments: Let me start by saying my old PR which I set in the 1/2 was 19.3 so 20.8 was AWESOME for me. I wish I would have gotten 21 since everyone seemed to do well here but this bike made me decide I do not need ot buy a new bike. I am not going to be chasing any podium spots and if I can improve in one year from 16s low 17s to 20.8, then I should be able to get another MPH or two in the next year. Don't need to spend the benjamins on a new bike...although tri-bikes do look sweet. Once I finally got out of T1 I just pedaled hard. Passed a lot of people, but got passed by quite a few as well. The only thing I am not happy with is my cornering, but it was wet and I didn't want to wreck. Overall very pleased. What would you do differently?: Nada Transition 2
Comments: 287th but I actually gained 10 spots...how? Don't know. What would you do differently?: Had to slide another bike down a little to get my bike in but, hey, I have already spoken on my transitions...SUCK!!! Run
Comments: OK, everyone get on the pass Dewey train!!! The first mile is what killed me. Yeah overall wasn't great but I guarantee I ran an 8 that last mile. My running is just slow. I know it, and I am developing a plan to deal with it. I am running everyday whether my IMOO plan calls for it or not. I wish I could point to one thing and say this is the problem, but I think it is just because I need to run more. Bottom line, that is it. What would you do differently?: Train better and HTFU and push it at the beginning. Post race
Warm down: None really, just went and got a bagel piece and the best Gondola in America :)... What limited your ability to perform faster: I suck at transitions and running :) Event comments: Great race and great place to have a race. The Evergreen Olympic is in the same place in July so can't wait for that one. Last updated: 2010-06-10 12:00 AM
