![]() Swim
Comments: Goal was to swim freestyle the whole race. I only resorted to breast stroke to get a better sighting and after being kick a couple of times. I am very happy with my swim. HR was about 174 coming out of the water. Don't know if that is good or bad. It is what it is. What would you do differently?: More training to get faster. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Long run from swim to transition. I tried to get HR down so I didn't run hard to bike. I was surprised I could jog at all. What would you do differently?: Not sure, maybe nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: Goal was to keep HR manageable and cadence in mid to lower 80's. I felt if I could do that I would not be burned out so I could have a decent run. Goal was accomplished. Although, I think I should have set a higher goal. Training cadence is usually mid to high 80's. What would you do differently?: Maybe push harder with HR. Definitely will get some more work in before next season. (Look at that, 1st year in tri's and I am saying next season.) ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Still using running shoes and toe straps. I was lucky enough to have my spot right there as you come into transition from bike in. The run out was not very far, either. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It may be a different story next year when I get bikes shoes and clips. ![]() Run
Comments: I used a camelbak for the bike and the run. I put "Not enough" because of how much water I had left. I don't feel like I was dehydrated in anyway, though. Overall, I am happy with my run. Goal was 9min/mile or better. On the back stretch I passed a 17 year old girl. She promptly passed me back when she saw my age. I had to laugh. What would you do differently?: I want to get my 10k down to about 8min/mile. I have a lot of work to do. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank some water and Gaterade, ate some food and watched a little of the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Going to Disney World the week before. ( I wouldn't change that if I could.) I tried to pace myself so I wouldn't bonk or DNF. As this was my first Olympic, I am well pleased with my results. Goal for this race was 3 hours. Beat it!! It gives me an idea of what I need to do to knock at least 30 minutes off my time. Event comments: This was an excellent race. Plenty of volunteers and police to direct traffic. I will be doing all three Tex3 races next year. Last updated: 2010-06-12 12:00 AM

Woke up about 4:30, made some coffee and ate a PB and banana sandwich. Finished loading up car and drove to site. Arrived about 5:45 or so and had no problems with parking or setting up spot. It was really nice having the lights on in parking lot and transition. This was my first Olympic, so I was a little leery of all the distances. I just hoped what training I got in would help.
Light stretching and some jogging. After transition closed I walked the long way to the swim start and decided to sit on the carpet until about 10 minutes before my start time. Had a gel about 7:30 and did some calisthenics (thank you spell check).
