Swim
Comments: I was super slow today. Must've been due to not training for the past couple of weeks. I need to incorporate more speed work into my swim workouts. What would you do differently?: Really, there was nothing I would have done differently.....I didn't get to swim for almost two weeks because we went on vacation last week, and I can't very well make my family schedule its vacations around my triathlons. Transition 1
Comments: Man....I don't know why I'm so slow in transition. I ran from the pool to the transition area. I did a quick dry-off, put on my socks, shoes, helmet, heart rate monitor, grabbed a Gu and ran out of transition. I was shocked to see how long this took. I MUST work on transition times. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions at least once a week. Bike
Comments: As I was heading north on pothole road, I turned my head and realized I was riding by a field filled with beautiful yellow flowers. Millions of them, splattered with bunches of white flowers and brown fern. It was breathtaking. Totally worth the entire race. What would you do differently?: More time in the saddle. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I don't know what the hell happened here. Ran into transition, racked bike, removed helmet and shoes, slipped-on running shoes, grabbed hat and ran out of transition. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Run
Comments: I'm a slow runner. I simply have not built a running base, yet. I'm working on it. Obviously, this will improve with time but until then I just have to be patient. I haven't been able to run for almost two months due to injuries, so the fact that I even finished is something I'm very happy about. Had a bit of post-run tendonitis pain, but it has vanished 12 hours post race. I will continue to train with my new orthodics and running shoes, increasing the volume at a reasonable rate. Of course, weight is an issue that still needs to be addressed, but it's coming off....however slowly. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Can't run any faster when you don't have a base to begin with, and have injuries to deal with. Post race
Warm down: Walked around panting. Drank water, ate a banana and pretzels. Watched Andy order everyone to smile as they approached the finish line (he was successful 100% of the time). Talked to a few people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Shew. Let me list the things: 1. Inexperience/lack of base conditioning. 2. Weight - I need to lose some more. 3. No swim training for almost two weeks. 4. No running for almost two months. 5. Injuries 6. Hallucinations 7. Paranoia 8. Aliens Event comments: It was a fun race, but I was a bit taken aback by the road conditions. I may or may not do this race again. Last updated: 2010-06-12 12:00 AM

Arrived at 5:45am to set-up transition. Waved at Andy. Went to body marking area and saw three people whom I didn't know did triathlon. Sat pool area bleachers with hubby. Got bored and walked outside. Windy, so walked back inside. Attended mandatory briefing. Saw Holly and hung-out with her for a while.
Did 200 yard warmup in pool.
