Swim
Comments: great swim I really enjoyed this style, we entered the water every :4. I had plenty of space to pass and draft off other swimmers. I seem to be passing many people which keep me going. I stayed strong the whole way and navigated very well. The water was clean and cool. Goal was 26-28 GOAL REACHED. What would you do differently?: nothing one of my better swims stayed in control and tried to stay relaxed Transition 1
Comments: not a good T1 I really need to work on this, Garmin messed me up, I need to keep it simple and get in and out. What would you do differently?: Couldn't find my garmin that I use on the bike, I need to forget about the garmin and put my bike computer back on the bike and call it a day. I need to put the helmet on, glass, shoes and get out Bike
Comments: Bike was rough as advertised, you really had to keep focus on the road and at times very hard to stay aero. No one passed me on the bike, I didn't have any speed indicator on my bike so I had no idea how fast I was going, but I was comfortable the whole time. rode about 90% and felt great. Only problems, people drafting, riding out in the left lane for no reason. You could tell there were a lot of beginners out there. On the second lap I got into a mix of sprint BOP's on mt. bikes. GOAL 1:01-1:03 What would you do differently?: not a whole lot maybe take it up a little bit, but it was hard with the road conditions and hundreds of people on the course. When I was taking my bike back to the car the back wheel was rubbing the brake. I felt like I had a flat around mile8 but could see anything, I think all the jarring must have moved my wheel a little. Transition 2
Comments: Once again bad, was fairly fast with the shoes, but I pulled the garmin out of my back pocket and just could not get it on my wrist while running. What would you do differently?: forget the garmin or use the quick release. Run
Comments: this is where I made my big mistake. I ran for the first time with my nike lunarracer's without socks. By mile 1 I felt rubbing, by mile 2 the pain was bad. It felt like a razor was cutting me with every step. At one point I even thought about running barefoot. I maintained 7:30's since that hurt but was tolerable anything faster hurt way too bad. This suck, because I really felt good, my legs felt good and I was breathing fine. GOAL 42-44 Missed goal What would you do differently?: don't make a rookie error of wearing shoes without socks for the first time in a race. Post race
Warm down: none ran straight into the med tent, with the bloody shoes and massive lasserations on both arch's What limited your ability to perform faster: rough roads and poor plaining with shoes and bike computer I did reach my goal of 2:20 so I can't complain too much Event comments: I really like this race, I will be back next year. The roads were rough, but that was about it. I like the course for all 3 events, even though I was in a lot of pain, I really had a lot of fun. Last updated: 2010-06-13 12:00 AM
