Swim
Comments: swim went OK. I hadnt worn the wetsuit since last September. My sighting was poor. When I breathed on the left I would pull left. The sun's placement made it hard to breathe on both sides since I was always blinded on one side (mirrored goggles might be a good idea). My arms started to get a little tired the last 400M I am not used to the wetsuit resistance. What would you do differently?: not much - although 20-45 minutes a week in the pool wont get me far. Transition 1
Comments: My wife was right by the rack and I was chatting with her. She eventually told me to get my ass moving and stop talking. What would you do differently?: I guess dont be so casual and chatty Bike
Comments: Yeah I know I sucked comparatively to the field but this was a great bike for me as I set a Bananatoes land speed record in the OLY distance. Sure I was getting passed by folks but I was racing me from last year and I won. I am still tinkering with seat height/positioning but I didnt feel gassed at all and I actually tried chasing some folks down on the bike rather than get dejected when people whiz by What would you do differently?: I still need more than 3-4 hours of biking a week but I am completely happy with the result. Transition 2
Comments: I was 3/22 on T2 time. I even spent time putting on socks so this was a great transition Run
Comments: Once again I got taken out about 3 miles in. I felt great right until the turnaround then I started breathing really heavy, got chills and a little lightheaded. I had to walk through the water stations at 4 mile and the sprint turnaround and a little bit at 5 miles. My legs didnt hurt and I could move fine it was just other stuff. I almost caught the guy in front of me (who turned out to be in my age group) but missed out by a second. What would you do differently?: I think I am losing too many electrolytes as I am covered in white dust when I am doing sweating. I havent figured out how to replace them effectively. I also didnt eat much on the bike aside from some soy milk. I still havent mastered the skill of drinking and running. I know I can go faster but it really wasnt that bad of an effort I guess Post race
Warm down: hanign out watching other people finish - chatting with other BT people - goign to have a giant margarita and getting loopy at 11:30 on a Sunday and then taking a nap Event comments: I was asked to do the race about a week beforehand. I wasnt expecting to do the race but I have a pretty good base of training in so I can do them without much taper or training. I do need to get more serious bike time in before my favorite race (Sylvania) and the Rev3 HIM. Cant complain though because I set a bike and overall PR. I am feeling confident I can bust 2:30 by the end of year. Howdy to all the Bt'ers present and I cordially invite you to try to Sylvania Triathlon as that is my hometown race. You can even see my high school and I can show you my first girlfriends house - I know you cant wait. Last updated: 2010-06-13 12:00 AM

Spent the previous day at a lake, grilling out, playing in the sun
Got up (staying at parents place) found spoiled milk and fruit. Ate some dry cereal and a granola bar and drove to the race site. Plan to bring my own race food next time.
A few strokes in the lake
