Swim
Comments: Descent swim for my first time in salt water but was getting kicked and shoved around a lot throughout because the Olympics started well before us and started catching up to us near the end. What would you do differently?: Continue working on breathing setting a good pace throughout Transition 1
Comments: Okay transition, took too long to get into shoes and out o the transition area. What would you do differently?: Bring extra water to get the salt water and sand off my feet. Bike
Comments: Felt really good on the bike, pushed hard in the places I wanted to because I knew the course beforehand. Hit the Kemah bridge hard and was passing people on the way up and down. Kept a good pace but I did have to stop to pick up a dropped water bottle. What would you do differently?: Make sure the water bottle is in the cage before letting go. Continue working on cadence for a more consistent ride Transition 2
Comments: Too a little too long to get the shoes on, need to loosen the Yankz!, other than that a descent transition. Run
Comments: Run felt good but I had too much left in the tank at the end. What would you do differently?: I really need to start pushing myself more on the training runs. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: No socks again on the run gave me blisters, so I need to continue working with no socks on, or wear socks in the races. Need to push harder on the run, felt like I had a lot left at the end. Event comments: Could have been more drink stations on the run, maybe one at the turnaround for the out and back run. Other than that, the race was very smooth and they seemed to have ironed out any problems I read about last year. I will definitely be doing this race again, hopefully the Olympic distance next year.
