Swim
Comments: Swim went well. My sighting seemed pretty straight on. Came out of the water winded, but not too tired. What would you do differently?: Train some. But otherwise I felt like I held my own on the swim. Transition 1
Comments: I think my lack of training made me very scatter brained on this race. I had decided I wanted to use my Garmin on this race and I had practiced setting it up to Multisport on a few training runs. So when it came time to set up I totally spaced and just turned it on. It was set for run only. I happened to remember this when I was swimming, so when I got into transmission I tried to quickly switch it over. Of course I couldn't remember the right sequence etc...finally just went out w/it all on run. What would you do differently?: Make sure my Garmin is set right or just forget about it if it isn't. Don't waste the time messing with it during transition. I really only wanted it for the run part anyhow to keep me motivated and not allow myself to slow down too much Bike
Comments: Biking is my weakest point. Not only am I on an old bike from the 70's but the fact that I don't bike very often really hurts me. Over all though I was fairly happy with my performance, since I wasn't really prepared. I got passed by quite a few people, but I also passed several. It started sprinkling as I was ending my ride. I was glad to be off the bike as I wasn't sure about taking corners in the rain. What would you do differently?: Seriously, I need to start biking more. Next year focus on bike training! Transition 2
Comments: This transition went much quicker. What would you do differently?: Take off my Garmin as I'm running into Transition so I have it in my hand before I have the bike racked. I had to go around to the other side to get the Garmin off the bike. Run
Comments: It started pouring just as I left transition. The rain felt great. It started pouring just as I left transition. The rain felt great. I kept watching my Garmin to make sure I didn't slow down too much. Since I haven't trained much, my body kept telling me it was time to walk some (like I have on several of my last training runs) I told it to shut up and keep running. What would you do differently?: Train. (Doesn't this seem like my mantra in this entire race posting) TRAIN Ginny TRAIN!!! Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a water, banana and went to the car asap. It was still pouring and I just wanted to get home and have a hot shower and get dry! What limited your ability to perform faster: Um...maybe the fact I didn't TRAIN (Am I noticing a pattern here?) Event comments: The swim is definitely my strongest part, I was 88 over all on that. I need to get consistent in running again and add a couple days a week of biking. This was a great race and even though my stuff really smelled after swimming in Buckeye Lake, I'll probably do it next year. Last updated: 2010-06-14 12:00 AM

I got up had a bacon sandwich, totally forgot about coffee until I was on the road and with no money except my $5 to park I figured this was a really bad start!
Parked, road my bike over to the transition area. Got there way too early, stood around a lot. Talked to a few people. Walked down to the beach. Mumbled under my breath again about how could I have forgotten coffee this morning! Asked myself several times, "why are you here, you haven't trained at all...this is such a waste of time."
