Swim
Comments: Well, this was a learning experience. My first time trial start. The race director had said you can self seed. I guess I should be more aggresive and I will be in the future on any time trial self seed start. I was 19th out of 525, and easily could have been top 10. My actual number was 85, I would say about 150 or so jumped in front of me. When my time came, I ran in and started swimming. Tried to hug the bouys to pass easily. Started passing a lot of people, and was doing well, until the turn buoy. Everyone was all grouped up and I could not pass. Had to do a little breastroke, and then was back on my way. Got to the second buoy, same thing. At this point I was a little frustrated, and just swam over a couple people. I never do that, but really just could not go anywhere. I started to breaststroke again, and had to get moving, so I just put my head down and went over a couple. Sorry to whoever that was!!!! I am not a mean swimmer. It's definitely my fault for not being more aggresive on the self seed. What would you do differently?: From now on, if it's a time trial start, I will start in the top 20. Transition 1
Comments: ugh, well I slipped getting out of the water. So that will be really cool if they got a picture of that. Long run into transition, and to the bike. Grabbed my stuff as fast as I could and took off. Not a real good transition though. Bike
Comments: Overall I was ok with the bike. Not super excited, but ok. I held my position fairly well. Got passed a few times, and passed a few. So not too terrible. What would you do differently?: Bike more. Just need to keep plugging away. Transition 2
Comments: Bad one. Took a minute to get the bike racked. Yuck. What would you do differently?: I dunno, actually know how to rack my bike. Run
Comments: It was an ok run. My calves were cramping the first half mile or so. I did actually pass some people. My fitness just is not there yet. I need to really get serious about my training. What would you do differently?: Run more. I need to bike and run lots more. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around a bit. Drank some gatoraid. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of fitness. Clogged up swimming. Event comments: I really liked the race, and if I would have started further up in the swim I think it would have been a really great race. I like the venue. The organization was perfect. It was a lot of fun to see that many athletes. Very cool. I will try to keep doing this series. Fun to see the same faces at all the different races. Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

Got up, had a fruit smoothy, felt good. Loaded up my stuff and headed out the the race site.
Ran a bit, stretched a little. I completely spaced the gel I usually eat about 15 min prior. Did not make any difference I don't think.
