Swim
Comments: This was a pretty good swim for me. Got a good clean start. Couldn't find any feet, saw another guy way to my left and that was it. The orange 'guide' buoys were all over the place. I was inside of every one of them as the shortest line was directly to the yellow turn buoys. There was a wave ahead of me, and I caught a bunch of them at the first turn buoy. Was navigating traffic for the rest of the swim. I swam hard and think I paced well. Had a bit of a screw up at the last turn buoy. Didn't know there was one at the end of the dock, and didn't see it til I just started turning to swim along the dock so I had to turn at the last minute to go around it. Probably cost me 10 seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing besides try to find some feet. But there wasn't really any targets since it's a wide starting area. Transition 1
Comments: I had a fairly good T1. My wetsuit came off real easily. My only problem was that I was REALLY maxed out. Just struggling to get my bearings/breathing was way out of control coming out of the water. Thought about sitting down and taking a rest! But I didn't. 4/43 in AG. 44/412 OA. Bike
Comments: I don't know what happened here. I didn't push the pace like I should have. The second loop there was lots of traffic to work through. Lots of riders not knowing to stay right, etc. For some reason I wasn't ready to race this to the best abilities. What would you do differently?: Race harder. Transition 2
Comments: This was fine. No hangups. I took my time getting my shoes on, just focused on being smooth. 9/43 AG. 72/412 OA. What would you do differently?: Bodyglide on my feet as my shoes rubbed a spot raw on the top of my foot. Run
Comments: This was ok. My right hamstring was threatening to cramp on me during the first loop. The second loop it sort of worked itself out. I ran pretty hard, but I can go faster. I think I settled into a 'groove' to get my legs going and then forgot that I really need to consciously push the pace out of my comfort zone in a race! What would you do differently?: Run faster! Post race
Warm down: Gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: My head. Ragnar Relay the week before probably didn't help all that much. Event comments: Post race food was junk this year. They need to step that up. Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

Up around 6:30. Lounged around the house. Had some whole wheat toast with almond butter and honey. Sipped on a bottle of GU Brew the rest of the morning.
10 minutes on the run course. A short swim to loosen up.
