Run
Comments: This was my first half-marathon and I had no idea what to expect. My longest training run was 12 miles and I did that in 2:21, so I was hoping to come in around 2:35. My right knee has been hurting when I run so I figured I'd be happy if I could maintain my training pace. My knee complained when I started to run, but after 3 miles it just stopped hurting. I was watching my splits and was really happy with my pace. When I hit the last mile I felt like I could go further. Maybe that's just what happens when you don't swim and bike first! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I am thrilled with my time. And I'm in the top half. That never happens. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank a bottle of water and ate some yogurt. Then found my family and got a ride in the rowboat back to my parents' house on the lake (the roads were still closed for the race). Event comments: Our little community puts alot of effort into marathon weekend. I loved volunteering this year and loved racing this year. It was extra-special for me because I saw so many people I knew along the course, either volunteering or just sitting by their driveways cheering for the runners. The fall colors were almost at their peak, too, so the course was just beautiful. Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival
65F / 18C
Overcast
Overall Rank = 257/526
Age Group = F 40-44
Age Group Rank = 22/52
The Adirondack Distance Festival is in my town, so I got to sleep in, have a nice breakfast (peanut butter, banana and chocolate protein powder pancakes) then have my husband drop me off a mile down the road to board the bus that takes us to the half-marathon start (the full marathon is a loop).
Walked/jogged for 15 minutes before the start.
