Swim
Comments: The swim was hard for many reasons. Besides the fact that I'm not a good swimmer, the bottleneck around the buoy's caused a lot of pain, as everyone was treading water and then when you actually started to swim you were kicked, and kicked other people. That was rough. And then swimming against the strong current was rather unexpected, and a pain. Also, the sections that you pretty much had to walk provided a nice break. :) but I think it would've been easier to just get in my zone and actually swim. What would you do differently?: I would've gotten into the water and warmed up first. But I definitely needed to be a better swimmer; My longest swim before this was 700 meters exactly in a lap pool. Transition 1
Comments: no times were given. Felt alright though. The run out of the pool to the transition area was worse than I expected. Bike
Comments: I lost my bike computer a few weeks before the race, and I really think it would've helped a lot to have it. I was a little lost on how far I had gone and such, and wasn't sure what my pace was at the time. I felt like I could've pushed it a little more, but was trying to save my legs for the run a bit. There was only one slight hill at the end which felt a lot steeper than it was. What would you do differently?: Make sure i have a bike computer and try to push it a a little more. Transition 2
Comments: When I swung one leg over the bike as it was rolling to the transition area, I felt good. But then I attempted to jump off and run with the bike, but my bike shoes lack tread and I actually wiped out. Kinda embarrassing. :) What would you do differently?: Practice the dismount of the bike more. Run
Comments: The run felt alright. I really wanted to stop many times, but am proud of myself that I didn't stop. I grabbed a drink at each stop that was offered. But the course was flat, and once I hit the turnaround, I felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Not sure.. Probably train and do more bricks, although the legs didn't really feel tired from the ride per se. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drink water and ate bananas. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was just looking to finish my first try. I feel like I could've pushed myself a little more and probably should've. Event comments: I really didn't have too much to compare this with. Seemed like they could've had more post race stuff though. Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon. I didn't have a routine per se. I did eat a banana and a granola bar. I stayed at my sister's which was 45 minutes away.
I met an old friend that I hadn't seen in 20 years. She was running the 5k, so we hung out before the race and I really didn't stretch like I was planning. I did get into the water just a little bit before the race and it was nice and warm.
