Swim
Comments: Best swim yet but I didn't feel good during it. In the pool when I time myself I'm typically around 24:00. At my last sprint (in a pool) I was at 21:15. Felt kind of cruddy during the swim...nauseous and tired and never felt like I was catching my breath. Sighting was alright...only went off course badly one time. A kayaker stopped me and suggested I go back the other way. I was definitely the fast of the slow swimmers. Everyone else was long out of the water by the time I finished but there was still 5 others swimming behind me. There were a LOT of weeds! It was so gross...they were right up in my face. What would you do differently?: Get better at swimming!! Transition 1
Comments: T1 went great. Suit came off quickly. Lost some time changing into bike shoes. Had a swig of Powerade. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Even though my rank is 23 that's including T1 and T2, I actually came in like 20th or something on the bike. Felt a bit gross after the swim, think I swallowed too much lake water. I was feeling kind of queasy, belching seemed to help that. Took me awhile to find my bike legs. Was passe by two girls. Ended up re-passing them. One of them passed me again and we battled it out till the end. She finished the bike before me in the end...I decided to save it for the run. My Icebreaker time (May) was over 57 minutes so obviously I've been doing something right. Although to be fair, I was being overly cautious at the Icebreaker because of the snow! What would you do differently?: Go harder? I think my pace was just about right though. Need to train on more hills. Transition 2
Comments: I was the only one in the BOP that needed to change bike shoes for running shoes. So a few people passed me in transition. What would you do differently?: Learn to get my feet out of the shoes while still riding, but honestly I don't think that's happening anytime soon! Run
Comments: Felt really slow coming off the bike. Took me awhile to get into the run. This felt really hard and I'm kind of shocked at my time. Icebreaker time was 29:02. So I managed to shave a minute and a bit off of that. What would you do differently?: Run faster! Post race
Warm down: Wandered around. Talked to some folks. Ate some fruit, drank the rest of my Powerade. Came home. It sucks finishing toward the end...they're already packing up the food and shooing you away. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training I suppose. Honestly given my abilities at the present moment in time I think I had a pretty good race. Event comments: Best thing about this race was the amount of FUN I had! I think that comes from meeting a few people that were near my skill level and we were pretty close the whole race. It was nice having that encouragement. Last updated: 2010-06-16 12:00 AM

Woke up, wasn't really hungry, threw my stuff in the car and drove to Pike Lake.
The adult sprint wasn't until 10:30, but we had to be registered and body marked by 8:00. So I got there, set up my transition, had a couple of hours to kill. Met some friendly folks from Regina, chatted and hung out. We watched the Jr. Elites swim.
About 30 min. before our start I got into my wetsuit and swam a bit. Practiced running into the water from the beach.
