Swim
Comments: Length was greater than 530yds. Judging by my time, I would guess closer to 600yds. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Buy tri suit and cycling shoes. Putting on shorts, shirt, socks, and running shoes just won't cut it in the future. Bike
Comments: Knew I was in trouble when the 57yr old woman passed me like I was standing still. I passed dozens on the swim and got passed by dozens on the bike. I only passed three people, 1 legitimate, 1 who crashed, and 1 with a flat tire. Obviously this is my weak link but at least I broke 20MPH. What would you do differently?: Not bad for my first tri and only about 500miles riding over the past 3 or 4 months. Must ride more and get cycling shoes instead of running shoes in cages Transition 2
Comments: Already had running shoes on so my T2 was faster than most everybody. Still, 15seconds gained won't make up for the 5minutes lost on the bike. Run
Comments: Was hoping to hold something between 7:00 and 7:30 but 7:41 is still OK. Again, not bad for my first tri. What would you do differently?: Need to run more. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for quite a bit. Watched the family volunteering at the finish line. Walked back to the lake and went for a swim. Even though it was 88deg, it was cooler than I was. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of bike base and lack of running base. Event comments: I enjoyed my first triathlon. As a former swimmer, I knew I would be one of the first out of the water and then would give up some lead on the bike but I wasn't expecting to give up so much. I just need to ride the bike more.
