Swim
Comments: This swim was between 300-350 yards longer than advertised. There is no way it took me almost 2:00 mins per 100 yards to swim 880 yards. My pace was more like a 1:25 per 100 yard pace. So I adjusted that to reflex in the actual race data. Many of the people were saying the same thing after the race too. What would you do differently?: Have a correctly marked course! Transition 1
Comments: I think this was one of the better transitions I have had. It was a little bit of a run from the lake to it but it still was relatively fast for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I wanted to push this bike ride a little and that is exactly what I did. Starting in the last wave of the swim made it so I was passing everyone and no one was passing me. The roads were a little rough in some spots but the majority of it was nice smooth sailing. This is probably one of the best bike performances I have had in a while. What would you do differently?: Work on some more hill training Transition 2
Comments: Well I seem to be having this problem lately where I fall over on my bike. This time I feel over when I reached the dismount line right before entering transition. I had un-clipped both feet and had pulled the right one away when I was about to pull the left one away it clipped back in and down I went on to my left side. I got up and a little girl asked if I was ok. I put a big smile on and said I was great! What would you do differently?: I am doing a back to the basics day soon where for 1 hour I ride in a parking lot clipping and un-clipping and stopping to work on this basic rudimentary skill. Run
Comments: It was too bad of a run. I think I was a little slower here only becasue I pushed the bike a little harder but I had a great sprint finish at the end. What would you do differently?: I think I need to do some more hill training. Post race
Warm down: I sat down and relaxed and found the cheering group for me. I got my bike from transition and changed. Then I waited for the award ceremony. What limited your ability to perform faster: I felt great the whole race and just need to focus a little more on the basics again to get myself up to par. Other than that, I think I am on par with my training and am still feeling great. Event comments: The time on my watch was a 1:18 and some change. My final time was a 1:21 and some change. So I think the official times are about 3 minutes off some how. Which is how often a swim wave started. Overall race was too bad. Needed more volunteers at the run water stations. Had 2 at one and then 4 at the other. Measure the swim better. The awards medals were really tiny and cheap. It almost was worth the wait for the hardware. Last updated: 2010-06-18 12:00 AM

I got up at 3:15am. I ate two bowls of frosted flakes. We were staying at the girl friend's dad's house, so I only had about a 30 min drive to the race where transition opened at 4:30 am.
I got on the bus that took us to the other side of the lake. That was about the extent of my warm up
