Swim
Comments: Had a great swim, went out 89th, and felt like I passed at least half of the people that started in front of me, not sure what my overall rank was, but I definitely felt strong on the swim. What would you do differently?: Not too much, felt good for the most part. Push it a little harder, still had a good bit left at the end. Transition 1
Comments: Fairly good transition, better than in my previous two races, I think having a good spot in transition helped me out a bit. What would you do differently?: Nothing, felt good stayed calm and moved pretty quickly. Bike
Comments: Good ride, didn't push it too hard, but I just wasn't ready for some of the hills and they took a toll on me. Got stronger as the ride went on, I got hit with a drafting penalty (I wasn't drafting, I was just tired of going back and forth with the rider in front of me and I took too long to pass them). I thought it was BS, espescially when I was told by the official after the race that I wasn't really drafting per se, but that I just took too long to pass. That 2 minutes knocked me from 2nd place in AG to 5th, so that was hard to swallow. What would you do differently?: Not get hit with a drafting penalty. I felt bad passing someone when I knew it was going to leave me tired and they would end up having to drop back and then try to overtake me. I will NEVER worry about that again, I will push past whoever I can without regard to their having to drop back or whether or not I can sustain the pace. Transition 2
Comments: Very happy with this transition, this was my third race, and in the first two my times were significantly below average in transition, in this one they were at the upper end. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Had a good run, had a very fast friend go out of transition just before me so it gave me a pacer to keep in site, think that really helped me stay on track. What would you do differently?: Take the first hill real easy and then try and really push it, think that first hill killed my initial momentum. Post race
Warm down: Hydrate and hang out. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just need to spend more time on the bike. The drafting penalty really hurt, going from 2nd in Age Group to 5th. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race and thought everything about the race was very well done. I'll definitely be back next year (to redeem myself). Last updated: 2010-06-18 12:00 AM
