Pre-race routine:

MY SWIMMING SUCKS! ok, just had to get that out.

Day prior I biked the John Stenner Time Trial Championship Race so my legs were very sore when I woke up. What was I thinking???

Had a banana, some sport drink and a gel just prior to swim.
Event warmup:

Lifting my bike onto the rack was my warmup.
Swim
  • 15m 48s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Man I suck at swimming. Lessons to be taken soon. Navigation was good today despite my swim time. I kept running into people and found the water to be very crowded compared to the long course swim last year. (maybe that is because I was more off course last year too...)
What would you do differently?:

Going to get some help swimming.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Was running out of transition and noticed I forgot my sunglasses. Had to turn back and run 40 feet to get them. My wetsuit must have hit them and knocked them out of my helmet when I was taking it off. Once past the mount line I had problems clipping in to my pedals for some reason.
What would you do differently?:

Remove wetsuit farther from bike so I wouldnt knock my stuff around.
Bike
  • 42m 54s
  • 17 miles
  • 23.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Surprised I did so well on the bike. My legs were very sore still from the Time Trial the day prior.
What would you do differently?:

Not sign up for 2 races in the same weekend!
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Good T2 for me.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more so I dont feel like I forgot something when I leave
Run
  • 21m 42s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m  min/mile
Comments:

Went out strong and decided to have a Power Gel just after mile 1. My mouth was dry and it was hard to swallow and got stuck in my throat. I usually dont have a problem eating it without water, but today it totally screwed my breathing up. I could hardly breath and swallow until I reached the aid station to get some water. I decided to walk the aid station and drank 3 glasses of water to wash it down. Rest of run felt better and stuck to drinking water.
What would you do differently?:

Lesson learned! Drink water with that stupid gel!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Beer, Nutella (my favorite), and a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sore from bike race the day prior.

Event comments:

Ok race if it wasn't for the lines. Its too bad most will remember this race by the lines they had to wait in. The race was run well and this course is lots of fun.
