Total Time = 1h 05m 48s
Overall Rank = 7/468
Age Group = M 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 1/56
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 4:30 and ate a bagel w/peanut butter and coffee. Enjoyed the grub as a watched the dvr recording of Arcade Fire on ACL. I live close so i was there right when transition opened.
Event warmup:

light stretching
Swim
  • 08m 5s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 37s / 100 meters
Comments:

Did a pretty decent job drafting off someone else the first 200 meters but then passed him and did a terrible job navigating. For some reason I went very wide around the mid point and ended up swimming through the weeds. Not sure why I had such a hard time but I definitely did.
What would you do differently?:

Better job sighting
Transition 1
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

nothing to complain about here. I decided to run with shoes and clip in and had a few issues once I mounted.
What would you do differently?:

just a better job clipping in. need to practice more with shoes already clipped in before implementing it in a race.
Bike
  • 36m 34s
  • 14 miles
  • 22.97 mile/hr
Comments:

This is the first time my bike rank has been better than my swim (overall). I have been working hard on the new ride so maybe it is paying off. at least that is what I told the wife to help justify the cost :)
What would you do differently?:

Not much as I pushed hard and was not passed by anyone for the first time since racing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

I did leave the shoes on for the dismount and it seemed to go well.
Run
  • 18m 48s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

I possibly could have pushed this a little harder but I am happy with the results. I caught up with a fast gal from the open wave and kept her pace until I hit the 2 mile mark and then pushed passed and to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

push a little harder but it was starting to get hot.
Post race
Warm down:

just cooled down with some water and ice cream.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

more training... My first AG win and I was pumped about that.

Event comments:

great local race that I will definitely do again next year.
