Did a 5 minute swim.
Swim
  • 11m 57s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got trampled. Never could get to the outside. Caught up with the group ahead of us at the last buoy and also met up with the Olympic group coming in. Complete chaos at last buoy. Swam to survive, not win.
What would you do differently?:

Start on the outside. I was an idiot and didn't realize that I was in the middle of the pack until 30 seconds remaining.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Shirt was difficult getting on. Slow getting socks and shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Need a tri-shirt to wear in the swim, need to practice with shoes on bike.

Bike
  • 46m 52s
  • 12.95 miles
  • 16.58 mile/hr
Comments:

Seemed to lose strength at the 270 turn, not able to maintain good pace. Light wind was in my face.
Stopped and gave another biker a tube.
Began cramping about the 270 turn.

Hammer gel got all over my hands.....very sticky
What would you do differently?:

Need to train better on faster speeds.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Good time considering strap placement on knees and washing off hands.
Run
  • 38m 33s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt fine, but calfs were cramping up early in the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Two muscle milks, carb/protein drink, 2 sclices of pizza, and 3 waters.

Event comments:

Not sure if I agree with how the race was started. Slower groups went before faster groups. And the Sprint group would meet up with the Olympic group at the last 200 meters. Complete traffic jamb. Mass group of waders trying to get out of the water at the same time.
I understand the need for the Olympic and Elite athletes to go first, but it might have been better to start the Olympic about 10 minutes sooner and then give a 20 minute break between races) and then start the faster groups first.
