Pre-race routine:

Went to diner in hotel for cheerios.
Event warmup:

Pretty much wandering around for a couple of hours waiting to swim.
Swim
  • 31m 29s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

I've heard of a mythical current for this race, but didn't feel it. At least it didn't push me to the finish as I had expected it to. My time was what I expected, and I was able to keep my head down and swim the whole time. Form wasn't the best, but I kept at it.
What would you do differently?:

Now that I am comfortable in the open water, I need to focus on form and going faster.
Transition 1
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

It's a decent hike from the river to T1, so the time wasn't too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Still takes me a bit to get my head straight after getting out of the water. Need to pick up the pace.
Bike
  • 1h 39m 4s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 15.81 mile/hr
Comments:

This was tough. The hills weren't incredibly steep, but they were long.
What would you do differently?:

I wasn't prepared for the hills. I had expected to do much better than this, but I think I put everything I had into it. I'll need to spend much more time in the saddle, and I'm also going to start back lifting to get my leg strength up.

I had problems getting to large cog in the front. My bike sucks and I need to get a new one.
Transition 2
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

I had a great spot near the bike in/out, but they made be go around to get to it. Still it was a straight jog and easy to find.
What would you do differently?:

I did well on this.
Run
  • 1h 05m 24s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad course, but my legs weren't having it. I should have been able to run much faster, but legs were tired from the bike. It was pretty hot, which always slows me down.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do harder bricks. Staying in a tougher gear for longer, then running hard.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing special.

Event comments:

Good race, but I will need to prepare more next year.
