Pre-race routine:

Went to bed at midnight the night before & got up at 5am. Got to the race site an hour early (10 minutes from my house). Ate a package of clif shot blocks (100mg of caffeine). I need caffeine in the morning but my stomach can't handle coffee & then doing a tri. The clif shots worked great. Drank a bottle of water which ended up being too much. Even though I hit the bathroom before the race started I still had to pee real bad on the run, but I guess it's better than being dehydrated.
Event warmup:

Went in the water and waited for race to start.
Swim
  • 10m 53s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went well. I felt comfortable in the water & should have pushed myself harder. I found someone to draft off of for the last 1/4 of the race.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself a lot harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Wet-suit came off rather easily. I had it off to my waist when I got to my bike. I tried putting socks on, but gave up rather quickly.
What would you do differently?:

I took my time in T1 but in retrospect I probably cost myself at least a minute because I went so slow.
Bike
  • 38m 27s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 17.48 mile/hr
Comments:

Maintained a comfortable pace throughout the bike course.
What would you do differently?:

Again, should have pushed myself harder. I was saving my legs for the run & as it turns out I didn't need to.
Transition 2
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

Ended up putting socks on before the run, they were hard to put on (low cycling socks). Next time I will go with running socks.
What would you do differently?:

Hurry!
Run
  • 27m 7s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great on the run, knees didn't hurt at all. Actually nothing hurt.
What would you do differently?:

I should have pushed myself a lot harder. I kept waiting for my knees to start hurting like they always do when I do a tri, but they never did.
Post race
Warm down:

Water & banana. The race was giving out protein bar and shake samples so I tried a few.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nervous about going out to fast and burning out.

Event comments:

I really enjoyed this race. Trimomprod.com does a really nice job with their triathlons. I'm really looking forward to the Matunuck race at the end of July.
