Swim
Comments: I thrashed about totally exhausted to the first buoy, rested on a paddle board for a minute and was finally able to get into a rhythm. I briefly debated not doing the second loop but was feeling ok, just discouraged about not just being last but WAY last. What would you do differently?: Swim at least 200 yards + to warm up. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was ok-I think it was the best part of the day! What would you do differently?: More body glide Bike
Comments: I was so far behind at this point I decided not to stress and just go enjoy the ride, what could be worse! Well let me tell you--I went off course up this killer hill and kept on riding till I realized this couldn't possibly be right, a friendly race marshall sent me back the right way. So what's a little extra hill training when you're already last, now I am ridiculously last. When I refigured my average without the mistake I was at 17.1, I had some bike fit tweaking done the day before and was really happy with that. What would you do differently?: Know the course, it was also the first time I used my Garmin in multisport mode and mph and average mph didn't come up on the screens AAGGGH. Learn how to use my Garmin Transition 2
Comments: Since I was way last out on the bike course I had my own personal race marshall to escort me in and wait for me so he could make sure I went the right way on the run course, so I hurried, he had been patient and encouraging with me on the bike course. What would you do differently?: Nothng. Run
Comments: It took me at least a mile to get my legs back then felt ok. You pass through the finishers area to start the second loop, they were doing the awards and announced "Here comes Melinda headed out for her second loop" A little embarassing, but at that point the cheering was greatly appreciated. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Got my medal for first in my age group, who says the last can't be first. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad swim start, not knowing the bike course. Event comments: Even though I was DFL I have to say I loved this race, it was a beautiful day and a great way to spend the morning, I would do this race again. Last updated: 2010-06-27 12:00 AM

Some steretching and "putting on the wetsuit" should be its own event.
