Pre-race routine:

I was up nice and early. Well I could not sleep well and got home form work late so my sleep was about 4 hours or less. I woke up and had something to eat filled myself with some drinks and drove up to the race.

I paid for the parking at Safeco, just so I knew my car was safe. That was nice because the bus was right there. The down side was that it took a little more than an hour to get to the starting area after I parked. No big deal I had some good conversations with the folks around me, so that was nice.

Event warmup:

My warm up was a nice walk around the starting area trying to find a spot to use the rest room. I checked my gear and walked around a bit more. Went up by start line and found a set of restrooms with a shorter line. Stood there for a while and wow it took forever. The time was counting down and the line was not moving. I was in coral 1 so I decided that I would just use the restroom at the first set there was on the course. I figured they would be nice and clean and no line. I jumped out of line and into the coral and got ready to start the run. I know I should have been back a few corals but when I changed my race from the half to full they changed my coral to 1. I figured sweet, clean restroom and not as much of a crowd when I start.

Comments:

The run was fun. I found my restroom just before mile 1. so next year I will just take a warm up job to mile 1 and use those ones, would be faster and cleaner. I had a goal of 3h50min. I missed that by 15min, but I was still happy with the run.
The run was a nice course, not to hard and not to easy. I have been fighting strep throat and some other head issues, non mental, so I was not feeling all that well. That did not come into my race until about mile 16. At that point I just wanted to be done. I hit mile 23 and my legs were done. It was all I had to finish this race on this day.
The run itself was cool. Some good bands, some bad ones, a lot of people cheering, some funny cheer squads. I like the run on I-90 that was nice, a little windy but nice. The run in the tunnels smelled funny. I did like the part of the run through down-town, that was real cool running on the streets with all the people around. It is a very scenic run and well worth the time. Hills were not bad, only thing I did not like were the out and backs, 3 of them all togeather. I do understand you can not just shut down the city and all its roads though so its is fine. I tried a new GU on this run and about got sick. It was one of the ones they hand out and man it was nasty.

What would you do differently?:

Just feel better.
Post race
Warm down:

Warm down was just trying to get my gear form the gear check and get out of that place. It was a zoo. My legs were in bad shape and I was not walking very well and I felt like junk, so I wanted my stuff and to get home. I grabbed a couple drinks on my way out and off to home to watch the USA soccer match on my couch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

illness

Event comments:

Fun race. Plan on getting there early, plan on crowds, plan on fun. The run is good and well stocked with people and drinks. The course is not to hard, and also not real easy. To me it was just right.
