Swim
Comments: I went out way too hard and panicked. First OWS, second tri, first competitive ocean swim, first mass start. I have been having trouble learning to freestyle and panicked a bit, forcing me to breast stroke for the first swim. It felt terrible. For the second leg, I was able to get into a good rhythm and freestyle finally clicked! I did the stroke the whole time. I was exhausted though, so my time was worse. What would you do differently?: Practice more OWS, and spend more time freestyling. I hit the pool today and it went great! So I am much more confident for the next race. Transition 1
Comments: All I had to do was dry off, put on my top, and put on my shoes. Pretty straight forward. What would you do differently?: Bring my own bucket to wash off my feet better. I got a lot of sand in my shoes for the first run. Bike
Comments: Very happy with the bike. I am a former cyclist and this is always my strongest suit and favorite part. What would you do differently?: Prepare better for going from the run to the bike. My legs were a bit tired. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition onto the bike and off the bike to and from both runs. No problems. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Run
Comments: I had a terrible run, especially since I am a former track/XC runne rand run regularly for my job. Unfortunately, I am coming off of a 6 month ankle injury recovery and haven't been able to run that whole time until about 3 weeks ago. What would you do differently?: Stay healthy and run more! Post race
Warm down: Collapsed in the surf and let the ocean cool me off. What limited your ability to perform faster: Ankle injury, poor running prep, poor swim technique. Event comments: The only major suggestion is more drink stations mid run. The run was only 1.5 miles, but all of the drink stations were at the beginning or end, right at the transitions. A mid way one would have been nice, especially with the heat. Last updated: 2010-06-28 12:00 AM

I ate a good breakfast at about 5 am and drank one of the new gatorade primes 20 minutes or so prior to the race. I hydrated a lot for the two days prior and rested and stretched in the two days leading up to the race.
None really, and this hurt me. All I did was hop in the water to acclimate and loosen up a bit.
