Swim
Comments: Overall a good swim. The horn went off and really wasn't ready. I had lined up on the right hand side to help with spotting with my breathing to the left and a clockwise course. The anouncer was talking about all kinds of other things and then just went right into sounding the horn for the start. My goggles were on my forhead so they were fogged up. I got a poor start. I also had my goggle get filled with water right at the start so I fixed them real quick. Being on the right side worked out well except for around the bui's. My spotting was ok and with most everyone to the left it worked out well. I started to veir to the left a few times and had one swimmer actually swimming over me from behind. After a reasonably poor start I cought a lot of people. Not from behind but they were all to the left so this wasn't a problem except when I was passing at the bui's. I wanted to breath every other stroke but ended up breating every stroke. Felt as though my exit of the water could be better with a run dive but not sure. What would you do differently?: Better start. Rinse out goggle and put them on and make sure the seal is good. Transition 1
Comments: Got into the trasition reasonably quickly but I think I should do some more open water swims and try and take of the wetsuit quicker. It was good but could have been quicker. When I getting onto the bike I haven't used this bike or the shoes enough so I didn't get into the peddles that quick. What would you do differently?: In the grand schem or things not a bad transition but nothing was that great. Wetsuit and get in clips better. Bike
Comments: Started up well. Got up to speed. Used new new old aero bars (the ones I bought were to small returned them and bought some used ones for $30). On the tight turns at first didn't use them and on the uphills were I slowed way down did use them but most of the other times I did. Did well on the flats and down hills. Uphills need a lot of work. Need to lose some weight. Didn't feel real comfortable on the areo bars on some of the steeper decents were topped out at 38 mph. Toward the end of the ride felt a lot more comfortable with them at speed. No back issues or anything like that. Felt like the position was very comfortable. I did notice that the crank arms seem a little longer than my other bike. Last is that my right clip isn't set up correctly. My heel is too far our. Need to buy a better set of shoes anyway. Halfway through the ride a took another gu. Energy level felt good through out the ride. What would you do differently?: Lose about 20 pounds so I can climb hills better. Transition 2
Comments: Felt like this was a good transition. Got feet out of clips quick. Got to my slot and put the bike on, shoes on quick and off to the run. Not sure I got this time correct on my watch and no timing for this event other than overall time. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: I didn't stop my time correctly so this is an appoximate time. Once starting the run, my left calf tightened up bad. Stopped about 1/4 mile into the run and streached it out. Ran easy for the first 2 miles made sure the calf didn't tighten back up. Calf losened up and started to pick the pace back up. Didn't have any problems with it at all in the rest of the run. Picked up the pace after the long hill about 2.5 miles or so. Felt real good for the rest of the run except for the last 1/2 mile. Hit a hill and lost most of my steam. Should have had one more gu at the end of the ride. What would you do differently?: Would have taken one more gel. Post race
Warm down: walked for about 1 mile What limited your ability to perform faster: More training. Event comments: Very friendly small race Last updated: 2010-06-29 12:00 AM

Stayed overnight just outside of Camden. Got a good rest and got up around 6 am. Had 1 banana around 7 and another around 7:30. About 15 minutes before the race I had a gu.
200 yard warm up in water. Very very easy (less than normal warmup in pool).
