Swim
Comments: Felt great to finally be able to draft...then I realized it felt great because it was slow...passed that guy but didn't pick a great line and veered a little off course. Got myself right in time for the buoy and then swam better on the way back. I didn't love that the course was so near the shore....lots of folks decided to push off the bottom at times, and this created murky water to swim through. What would you do differently?: Go hard! This is really short... Transition 1
Comments: No transition times at this event. The T1 time is added onto the Bike split. It went well, I think about a minute? What would you do differently?: Remember to Body glide my ankles Bike
Comments: Got into a decent cadence and started passing folks right away (only good thing about being a slow swimmer)thought I was going to hafta stop to make the turn on 86 (not a closed course) but I was waved through. Looked down to get my foot back in the cleat and when I looked up I had taken the turn too fast. Crashed off the road, but the bike and I were fine (except for our pride). Took a minute to get the chain back on and check over the scoot before I got going again. Flew down the descents and then made good time on the River Road rollers. Was kinda funny passing people I had already passed! Never was able to get into a good rythym after the crash. Got through the two hills and then just focused on hydration during the last few miles. What would you do differently?: Not crash...but at least I didn't flat! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Got passed by two young runners in the first ten feet. They were flying! It is always neat to see some young and really talented athletes. It went fine, but I prolly could have started a little faster. Post race
Warm down: Went back onto the course to cheer for my sons' team. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training for IMLP, Genetics Event comments: The folks who run the event almost seemed annoyed at having to do so. This is odd considering they are making some serious dough off the event. There is a fifteen dollar entry fee, PER PERSON. So a three person relay costs 45 bucks. Since the event is a low key, training -type event, with NO police support, no goodie bag, no transition area, no computer timing...you get the idea. This event should prolly be free with the free advertising and business opportunity for the company who runs it enough incentive. But that is prolly why the shop that sponsors the event continues to lose ground to the other, much better LBS in Placid. If the stated purpose is to get folks into Triathlon (especially kids) accessibilty should be a priority. Okay, off my box. Last updated: 2010-06-29 12:00 AM

Drove the hour to Placid, registered and set up 'transition' with not much time to spare.
Not much. Pretty smoked from my long run the previous day in prep for IMLP. Spent time helping the kids get setup and then got into the water.
