Pre-race routine:

Woke up early tried out a new pre race breakfast 3 cups apple sauce, banana, Gatorade, aired up the bike tires drove from Green Bay up to the race
Event warmup:

After setting up transition took a quick little swim, right when I finished they announced the thirty minute start delay. Walked out on the pier, walked around on the beach

The water was so calm and clear I think I decided to make my swim the same way for some reason I was in leisure swim mode.

Good transition I notice a small cramp in my right calf as I was pulling of my suit which was a good reminder that as I was strolling around on the beach pre race I should have kept the fluids going

really enjoyed this course. I pre-rode it the week before so I knew what to expect the hills were nice and the downhill around 50mi was fast and fun
What would you do differently?:

More Core training I could feel my low back and abs straining at about the two hour mark

For me this was a pretty good run I was determined not to walk except at the aid stations. I was popping endurolytes which was good but I don't think I took in enough gel. My outside left ankle was also killing me not sure if it was from the tilt in the road or not but on the way back through Egg Harbor I really started to notice it then on the downhill at the finish the pain was awful
Post race
Warm down:

Met up with the family waded in the lake to cool down Thought about the pork sandwich (haven't eaten pork for over a year) Was starving and wife forgot my post race nutrition in the car. So pork it is enjoyed a delicious Amber Bock packed up went home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Well it has been almost two weeks since the race, and I have asked myself this question over and over I was ten minutes slower than my last HIM just three weeks prior. I felt like I trained correctly, I tapered right the bottom line is I just don't think I should up in race mode. I still need to continue to work on my run and my overall fitness level I am planning on the WI Ironman for 2011 this was just a reminder how much work I have left to do
