Swim
Comments: I am not a fast swimmer and purposely lined up in the back as not to get in the way of the faster swimmers. Instantly got snagged in sea grass and had to untangle my foot. unable to see after the first bouy due to sun glare so I just followed the gals ahead of me. Everyone was really great about not swimming over each other. Even the waves behind us which was an unusal treat. Only one man in the relay division tried to drown me, thats good! Had to stop and catch my breath a few times and sight, but all in all swim was doing well until i hit the sea grass towards the end. Got stuck in it and EWE! Lost probably 2 minutes in the mess. Did this same course in Irongirl in 2008 and was 4 mins slower this time, had to be the sea grass... What would you do differently?: I need to work on my speed in the water. Transition 1
Comments: Ran up to my bike in transition, transition time not bad, ran up small hill to start the bike, official had to remove sea grass that was attached to my back. What would you do differently?: Was pleased with time Bike
Comments: Not my fastest time on this course, did 1hr (17.2) in 2008 at Irongirl, but all in all I hadnt done alot of hill practice this year so i was pleased that I got out alive. Took about 2 miles to get my bike legs in and then I realized how much I hate hills. Pushed the pace the entire bike, couldnt wait for run. What would you do differently?: Practice more hills Transition 2
Comments: Quick transition, opted to not mess around, in and out. What would you do differently?: Nothing, comfortible with time Run
Comments: The run is usually my strength but when i started I could instantly feel the 90 degree heat and I felt like I was running in slow motion. I did not walk but wanted to, pace was way off my normal pace, felt like the longest 3.4 miles ever. The heat was definitely a factor. Shoe lace came untied at mile 3 and I was not stopping to tie it. Finished strong with a sprint. Was NEVER so happy to be finished a race. What would you do differently?: I did heat train but no matter how much heat training I do, its still HOT and it hurts the pace. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, drank R4 Recovery, ate a bagel. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to work on my swim. The slow swim puts me too far back in the age group standings and is frustrating. Event comments: Great Race, great support Last updated: 2010-06-30 12:00 AM

Wake up at 4am, oatmeal, coffee, stretching, check weather (yup still going to be HOT), mentally review list of things in truck for transition, jump in truck and head to race at 5am. Arrive in time to get a parking spot in the park, get body marked, set up transition, take some pictures, want a muffin, do NOT get a muffin, find port a pot, recheck transition, every good, head over to swim, got 3 hours until my swim wave.. UGH
Some stretching, lots of calming breathing exercises, keep heart rate down.
