![]() Swim
Comments: My most comfortable race swim to date. Really could have pushed harder but got into an easy rhythm of 30-40 strokes then a couple of breast strokes to sight and then back at it. Sighting was easy as it was a point to point swim. There was very little,if any, current but I tried to stay close to the buoys as any current would be strongest there What would you do differently?: Push a little harder. Comfort level continues to increase with experience. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: You exit the swim up a fairly long set of steps. My time is based on preliminary results posted at the race. Final results have T1 and bike combined. Using trisuit throughout the race is the way to go. Big time saver. What would you do differently?: Maybe at some point stop using socks but overall satisfied. ![]() Bike
Comments: This was my first race with my powermeter. Looking back at the numbers I should have pushed a little harder but I was really trying not to "blow up". There are no hills to speak of where I live so I need to work on pacing the longer hills. But, overall I was satisfied. May have lost a little time here but likely that easier effort helped my run. Drank most of a bottle of Accelerade and a few sips of Nuun. Tried to stop drinking a couple of miles before T2. What would you do differently?: Train more consistently on long hills. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Transition area was big and I had a long run to my spot. Went down the wrong row so probably lost 10-15 seconds there. Otherwise pretty smooth. Visor, shoes, run belt go.... What would you do differently?: Go to the right row ![]() Run
Comments: Maintained a pretty consistent pace. First hill did not bother me as much as I expected. Wet towels after the steps were amazing! Well stocked aid stations. Ate part of a gel around 2 mile mark. Tried to slow and drink a little at each water stop but each time my stomach would feel a little off. So, I would drink a little and dump the rest over my head. Worried that I would be hot in black trisuit but no problems-really liked the Desoto Liftfoil for all 3 events. Was able to run up the hill before going down the steps and then pushed hard down the hill to finish. What would you do differently?: Solid run. Maintained steady pace. Walked through the water stations but felt that I needed to given the heat. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Family greeted me. Rested a few minutes then caught up with Michael from BT Mentor group-he had a great race. Went to the food tent. Popsicle was excellent idea post race. Then had some pizza, powerade and a beer. Checked preliminary race results, packed up and walked back to condo . What limited your ability to perform faster: With this being first race back since January hamstring problem I was pleased. Only 6-8 weeks of running before the race so was a little uncertain how I would hold up. Goal was top 1/3 in AG since that would qualify for USAT AG Nationals. Was 22/89 so made top 25%. Event comments: Really enjoyed the race. Lots of really good racers so it was fun to see where I stacked up. Still plenty of room for improvement. Team Magic does a great job and I love Chattanooga. Like the TT start for the swim. Will be back next year. Excellent venue. Last updated: 2010-06-30 12:00 AM

Up at 4:15am. Cup of coffee, some wheat toast, half an Ensure and a glass of Accelerade. Walked the half mile from condo across the bridge to race sight. Got marked, set up transition. Ready to go. It was still dark so a flashlight/headlamp would have been nice.
Took the bus to the swim start, did a few strides and stretches. Port a let a few times. Ate a couple of peanut butter crackers and sipped on a Gatoraide. Had #146 so I started within a few minutes of the start of the race
