Swim
Comments: I swam this pretty much all out. I had very little left at the end and couldn't wait to get out of the water. I hate swimming in wetsuits (although they are free speed) especially when the water is this warm. I don't know the exact temp, but it must have been at least 21C (70F) probably warmer. The swim back to shore was into the sun. Had trouble seeing the course markers. Just followed other people's feet/splashing. What would you do differently?: It would be nice to draft better. I basically swam the whole thing on my own, except for the first 200m or so. I ran into one of the course markers, it would be nice not to do that :) Transition 1
Comments: Wet feet slipped off the top of the shoes. Gave me a bit of a scare right off the bat. Got the feet in and off I went. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: My legs were a bit out of it for the first few kms, but I slowed the pace down and they came around. I felt better and better on the bike. Drank the entire bottle, but it was not enough. It was really hot. What would you do differently?: bigger bottle and drink more. Transition 2
Comments: Left calf cramped when I tried to put the running shoe on. Had to sit down and stretch it out. Cost me few seconds. What would you do differently?: Wish I didn't have to sit down. Run
Comments: I knew I was going slow, but that was all I had left. It was hot and I couldn't wait for the run to be over. What would you do differently?: Wish I had a little more left on the run. 21:00 would have been perfect. Post race
Warm down: Walk though the misting tent, eat some food. Take a swim in the lake, sans wetsuit to cool off. What limited your ability to perform faster: I might have went too hard on the bike, but I'm not quite sure if I could have offset the time lost on the bike on the run. Heat was definitely a factor. Event comments: Good Race. I was hoping for a 1:16 with 1:13 being absolute best case and I came pretty close to that. Very happy with the race, but wish I had more left on the run. Need to bike more. Last updated: 2010-07-06 12:00 AM

Ate breakfast while driving to the race. Keep hydrated and watch the half-iron swim start as they started at 8am.
Jog for few mins, put wetsuit on swim 50-100m to losen up the shoulders.
